PHYSICIAN-LED FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
Medicine that asks why.
Your symptoms don’t happen in isolation. Neither should your care.
We take your symptoms, history, labs and the patterns you’ve noticed in your body and look at them together. Then we determine what may be contributing to the problem, where change is getting stuck, and what deserves our attention first.
INTERCONNECTED SYSTEMS
One symptom can belong to more than one system.
The location of a symptom doesn’t always tell us where the problem began.
COMMON PATTERNS WE SEE
These are a few of the concerns women most commonly bring to ARÉVIDA. Each can involve more than one system, which is why we look beyond the symptom itself to understand what may be contributing.
Fatigue
May lead us to consider thyroid function, iron and nutrient status, glucose regulation, sleep, hormones, medications, stress physiology and relevant environmental exposures.
But biology may not be the whole pattern. We may also look at repeatedly overriding fatigue, difficulty allowing recovery, or beliefs that make rest feel unproductive.
Weight resistance
May involve insulin, thyroid function, reproductive hormones, muscle mass, sleep, nutrition, medications, environmental exposures that may influence endocrine or metabolic function, or several factors interacting.
We also look at what happens around the biology: your relationship with food and movement, how you respond when progress slows, and whether all-or-nothing patterns make consistency difficult.
Changes in mood or concentration
May warrant looking at sleep, hormones, thyroid function, nutrient status, glucose regulation, medications, relevant environmental or occupational exposures, and what is happening in the context of your life.
That context matters. Internal narratives, chronic self-imposed pressure, boundaries, recovery and repeated behaviors can all influence how you feel and function.
The goal isn’t to assume where the problem is. It’s to understand which systems may be interacting.
BEYOND BIOLOGY
Biology gives us part of the answer.
Your physiology matters. So do the beliefs and behaviors interacting with it. Sometimes the barrier is biological. Sometimes the medical plan makes sense, but the way you’re living, thinking or responding makes it difficult to carry out. Often, several are happening at once. The ARÉVIDA Lens helps us determine where change is getting stuck.
COMMON REASONS WOMEN COME TO ARÉVIDA
What we commonly evaluate.
You don’t need to know which system is responsible before you arrive. That’s part of the work we do together.
Hormones + perimenopause
Changing cycles, hot flashes, sleep disruption, libido changes, PMS, PCOS and questions about whether hormones may be contributing.
Metabolism + weight resistance
Changes in weight or body composition, insulin resistance, blood-sugar concerns and the feeling that what used to work no longer does.
Thyroid health
Thyroid symptoms, abnormal testing, autoimmune thyroid disease, medication questions and persistent symptoms that warrant another look.
Energy + fatigue
Low energy, afternoon crashes, poor recovery, brain fog or fatigue that sleep alone isn’t resolving.
Digestive health
Bloating, bowel changes, reflux, food reactions and persistent digestive symptoms affecting how you eat or live.
Sleep + recovery
Difficulty falling asleep, waking overnight, early waking, non-restorative sleep and poor recovery.
Brain + mood
Changes in concentration, anxiety, mood, resilience or the way your brain and body respond to stress.
Healthy aging + longevity
Cardiometabolic health, bone health, muscle preservation, cognitive health and protecting the capacity you want for the decades ahead.
TEST WITH INTENTION
More data isn’t always more useful.
ARÉVIDA has access to conventional bloodwork and advanced functional testing. Access to a test does not mean you need it.
We choose testing based on the question we are trying to answer and whether the result could meaningfully change what we investigate, recommend or treat.
That may mean comprehensive bloodwork is enough. In other cases, hormone, digestive, nutrient or metabolic testing may give us information worth having.
The value isn’t in ordering the most tests. It’s in knowing which information will help us make a better decision.
OUR FRAMEWORK
The ARÉVIDA Lens.
When something isn’t changing, the question is where it’s getting stuck. The ARÉVIDA Lens looks at your biology, beliefs and behaviors to understand where the barrier may be, then considers what it will take for the change to become sustainable.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN YOUR BODY?
Biology
Is there something physiological making change harder? We look at your symptoms, history, medications, labs, hormones, metabolism, nutrition, sleep and other relevant systems to understand what your body may need.
WHAT WE MAY EXPLORE
- Hormones + reproductive health
- Thyroid + metabolic health
- Nutrient status
- Digestion + microbiome
- Sleep, inflammation + recovery
EVERYONE STARTS HERE
The Foundational Assessment.
Before we decide what treatment you need, we need to understand what we’re treating.
Your Foundational Assessment brings together your health history, symptoms, concerns, goals and relevant prior testing. After reviewing your intake, Dr. Ibrahim selects the laboratory testing most likely to inform your care.
Once your results are available, you’ll meet for a 90-minute physician assessment to connect the findings, discuss what may be contributing to what you’re experiencing, and determine what to do next.
Your assessment can stand on its own. Ongoing care is recommended only when it would add value.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
The assessment gives us the map. What comes next depends on what you need.
If treatment, reassessment or deeper support would add value, there are two ways to continue. You don’t need to choose before we begin.
SIX-MONTH COMPREHENSIVE CARE
Investigate.
Treat. Reassess.
Six months gives us time to treat what we uncover, see how your body responds, and adjust based on what we learn.
Forty-five minute visits scheduled according to clinical need to assess progress, review results and refine treatment.
Nutrition, movement, sleep, recovery, supplements, medication and hormone support when appropriate.
Testing is ordered or repeated when the result could help us decide what to do next.
Messaging for brief clinical questions and clarification related to your active treatment plan.
Additional physician visits can be added when your clinical needs require more support.
Best suited for: women whose primary work is medical, hormonal, metabolic, nutritional or lifestyle-focused and who want physician follow-through while we treat, measure and adjust.
12-MONTH ARÉVIDA MEMBERSHIP
The deepest level
of partnership.
Twelve months gives us time to keep refining your medical care while working on the other places change can get stuck: your beliefs including self-talk, expectations and old stories; your behaviors around nutrition, movement, sleep, recovery, relationships and boundaries; and Becoming, the identity work that helps these changes become a natural part of how you live.
This is for women who want the most access to Dr. Ibrahim and someone beside them through the deeper work: a physician who knows the full story, holds the vision, notices the patterns, helps you course-correct, and champions the woman you’re becoming.
Change is different when someone is there long enough to witness it.
READY TO BEGIN?
You don’t have to know what kind of care you need.
That’s what the Foundational Assessment is for. Start by understanding what is happening, what may be contributing, and what deserves your attention next.
